My Hero:

Mick Doohan. The name obviously rings a bell. Australian Sensation Michael Doohan is god's gift to the Grand Prix Superbike Racing. Starting out building pools as a young bloke he was picked up by a small motorbike company in Australia and was put in the rider's seat. Excelling rapidly, he quickly made a permanent "Dent" in the sport. Rothman's Honda later picked him up revealing his professional skill that we all know and respect. As each year goes by a new title approached and he took it. Now it being 2000, Mick has Recently retired making myself and his thousands of fan's really disappointed. He sustained serious injuries last season and just could not make a full recovery. I saw him at Phillip Island October 1999 for his last appearance on an NSR-500 for Repsol. Tears welled up in many eyes as I waved to the man I'd been worshiping for a few years. I'm young and was unable to follow his early portion of his career.

My dream still is there to meet him one day. Large lines and long waits appear when he makes an appearance someplace public. DAMN!  But someday it will happen.

At least that Mick is still participating in the GP's by running a race team with Star Valentino Rossi. He will do a great job and will provide an asset to the industry.
